Birthday’s and Thunderstorms

•February 12, 2009 • Leave a Comment

February 10th was a day full of birthdays.  Luckily I have Facebook to keep me up on all my friends birthdays.  On Tuesday, I knew 8 people that shared that birthday and I got to celebrate 2 of them that night.

For my friends, Ally and Rachel, it wasn’t just any ol’ birthday…it was their 21st!   So we started with dinner.  It was Ally’s idea to eat at Sneaky Pete’s in Lewisville.  Its a fun restaurant there on the lake.
The birthday girls….                                                              Sneaky Pete’s…..

When we got to the restaurant, we realized that we were the only ones there.  So we immediately thought there was something up.  The first thing the hostess said when we walked was, “Do you know we are under a tornadoe warning?”

Well, we just brushed it off and sat down out on the dock for dinner.  As we were eating, the wind picked up and the rain started.  A few seconds later, the sirens started sounding.  I could immediately hear my mom’s voice in my head…”What was he thinking eating dinner out on a lake during a tornadoe?!”

Well the storm blew in and out very quickly so we enjoyed the rest of our dinner.  It was good food, good drinks, and good company!

Ppppp Poker Face!

What you are about to read is a TOTAL random blog….

Anyone who knows me, knows that i LOVE music!  I listen to all kinds, but a favorite type of mine is fast, random songs with a banging beat!!  Case in point, I am a huge fan of Lady Gaga!  Her songs are fast, random and beat-tastic!  Same with her style!

     GaGa performing in Stockholm, Sweden.

I’ve been jammin to her for well over a year now.  I got all my friends hooked on her way before her songs were being played on the radio.  I heard her for the first time performing at the Miss Universe Pageant last year.  She sang her current hit “Just Dance”!  And though her performances are a bit out there; i was hooked from the moment she walked out on stage!

She currently has a new record out and a favorite track of mine is “Poker Face.”  You can hear it on my “Song of the Week” page.  Again it’s very catchy!
Not only does this girl have some crazy songs, but a more crazy style!   Me and my friend Emily were discussing her looks yesterday, and we love the how she is just different…she truly knows how to stand out!  So here are just a few more pictures of this lady showing off her “out there/stellar” style…

New Year’s Resolution…

Ok…so my goal is to frequently update everyone on happenings in my life.  First let me catch you up on some of the things I’ve been doing. Let’s begin with the beginning of the holiday season….

We always start off the Christmas season with a family tradition of attending the Dallas Symphony Orchestra’s Christmas performance at the Meyerson. Mom and I at the Symphony I look forward to this event EVERY year.  I love music so it is always great!

Then my friends and I ended a long and stressful semester by celebrating with a Christmas party! The theme was “Tacky Christmas Attire.”  It was a great time.  I was very pleased with my attire…quite tacky…yet still festive!!!the-girls

Never too old to learn….

So just the other day, I was sitting in the Campus Chat studying for a test that I had later that day when something grabbed my attention! It wasn’t the students walking by or the song playing on the guy’s ipod next to me; it was a couple that were sitting just a table over from me.

The reason why it caught my attention was that this man and woman both had to be in their late 60’s early 70’s.  They were both reading from textbooks.  The lady was reading out of a European text book, but I wasn’t angled correctly to see what the man was studying.  They were both drinking coffeee and you could truly tell that they were enjoying each other’s company by just sitting at the same table.  For the 45 minutes that I sat there and tried to study and get some formulas for my Econmics of Discrimination test under my belt; they just sat there content in their studies.

The whole time, maybe a few sentences were spoken between them and a few smiling glances were exchanged between the two.  But it really made me realize a few things.  I don’t know the couple’s circumstances.  Maybe they were just continuing their education or maybe they were taking courses for the first time.  But I realized how lucky I am to be just 22 and almost done with college, receiving such a great education.

I also realized the reality of the old saying, “You learn something new everyday!”  And the couple that I observed just for that short period of time truly showed that no one is ever too old to learn!

What a Pumed-Up Pep-Rally!

Football season is here!!!  Last Friday we had a pep rally for UNT’s game on Saturday against Tulsa.  The extravaganza is called Friday Night at Clark Park.  If all the events that were going on that night did not pump you up; there is a serious problem!!

Bright lights, good music, good (free) food, free give aways, and a packed crowd full of spirit can sum up the night, but I want to tell you a little more of the details.  So starting around 6:30 groups of people started to show up.  People’s faces were painted and everyone was sporting UNT colors! I even saw groups bringing in couches to chill on the lawn.  Wells Fargo was there grilling hot dogs for everyone.

Around 7:30 the band started! The band’s name was Good Question, and they were amazing! They played classic songs that everyone knew and they also played current songs! They crowd was pumped.  Some fellow Eagle Ambassadors and I got to work the event and were in charge of guarding the free give aways.  We even got to make it up on the stage and throw out the things! FUN FUN FUN!!!!!

After the band stopped, the UNT cheerleaders, dancers, band and football team showed up and continued with the excitement!

I STRONGLY recommend that anyone who missed out on this first pep rally; please make it out to next one!! I guarantee it will be a BLAST!!!

Howdy!
